Pocket Friends - Environment - Bathroom and Kitchen

To expand the game world and support additional mechanics and customization options, we introduced new interactive spaces, including a bathroom for cleaning and a kitchen for feeding. I was responsible for the end-to-end development of these environments, from initial concept to final in-engine implementation.

I began by blocking out each space to define layout, scale, and flow, ensuring the primary activities were visually and interactively centered. For example, the bathtub and fridge served as anchor points that triggered key gameplay actions like washing or feeding. From there, I created assets that balanced visual clarity with performance for mobile platforms.

I handled the modeling and UV layout in Maya, hand-painted textures in Substance Painter, and packed textures and materials for reusability and performance. Once assets were complete, I built the scenes directly in Unity, using prefab systems for consistency and flexibility. I also adjusted lighting and post-processing to maintain the game’s cozy aesthetic and ensured all elements functioned correctly through interactive testing and iteration with playtesting.
